License plate scanning cameras may soon be permanent in the Ozarks.   It’s all about our safety.

Obviously, criminals don’t stay in one place, so this new technology will help law enforcement by snapping a picture of the license plate to keep tabs on suspects that are in our area from other towns, cities or states.

The “Flock Safety Camera” system will enable law enforcement to put in a tag number from a suspect vehicle thru the Amber Alert system and start searching. This could save valuable time in an emergent situation.

 It’s hoped that the system will soon become a permanent fixture in Springfield, with possibilities of expanding to neighboring communities.  The information will be available for a limited time.
