Are you ready to play in the dirt and plant those veggies?

Typically in the Ozarks, the middle of April means no more frost.  However, we have had snow in May so keep that in mind when you plant.

Local gardeners agree that the cooler seasonal crops can be planted now because they are a little more hardy to the cooler temps.  Go ahead and plant broccoli, carrots, lettuce, spinach, and peas.

Authorities suggest that you hold off on planting the tender plants such peppers, tomatoes and cucumber until the beginning to middle of May.

Watch the weather and be prepared to protect your crops if possible, thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail plus windy conditions can play havoc on a garden.
