A deadly disease for pets is making the rounds.

The warning has been issued by the Pet Resource Center out of Kansas City, after a couple of dogs had to be euthanized after being tested positive for a bacterial infection called leptospirosis.

Leptospirosis, also known as “lepto,” can spread through the urine of infected animals in contaminating water, soil and even food.

If you have an outside dog who likes to swim in water sources that may have access to deer, those dogs will be at risk for lepto.

Symptoms include  throwing up, diarrhea or yellow eyes.

If your pet is experiencing these symptoms, take to the vet asap.
