If you are on City Utilities of Springfield, a possible electric rate increase could be in the works starting in 2027.
Currently CU authorities are seeking to ask the Springfield City Council for an electricity rate increase adjustment which will be phased in starting in April of 2027, if approved.
The proposed electric rate increase will help to fund a couple of infrastructure expenditures, including  three natural gas combustion turbines and two battery storage projects.
The first rate increase will be a 3.0% hike starting April. 1, 2027. The second increase will be a 3.6 % and will begin in April of 2028.
Typical CU customers will see an estimated increase of $3.92 in 2027 with an additional $4.83 per month starting April 2028.
