Yesterday, started the closures of the Walnut Street bridge over Jordan Creek in western Springfield.

Drivers will need to detour around the workers and work zone and can use College Street, Grant Avenue or Mt. Vernon streets.

The aging bridge located just east of Kansas Expressway will be closed for one week to let workers perform preliminary work.  The bridge will then re-open for a short time with full closure expected in early April.

Work on the bridge should be completed by the fall.
