The Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) is warning SNAP participants of a recent increase in Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card fraud.
In a release Thursday, the department said more Missouri residents are reporting their benefits being stolen because of skimming and cloning of EBT cards. Most of these incidents are happening in stores outside the state.
How do you safeguard your benefits? Participants are asked to use the “EbtEDGE” app on their mobile phones and devices.
Using the app will:
- Freeze their benefits when not in use to prevent unauthorized spending
- Block out-of-state transactions
- Change their pin
If SNAP benefits are stolen via skimming, cloning or phishing, individuals can submit submit an Electronically Stolen Benefit Replacement Request form- GO HERE within 30 days to determine eligibility for replacement benefits. Funding for replacement benefits will end Dec. 20, 2024.
