What old is new again…. well it soon will be!
The Historic Jefferson Avenue Footbridge will soon be rehabilitated.
The popular footbridge has been closed for safety reasons for several years.
Currently construction is underway on dismantling and moving the bridge.
Here is the timeline on what you can expect before completion and opening of the popular footbridge:
Late April – Begin installation of rail panels and crane/equipment mobilization.
Early May – Construction Kickoff & Viewing Event [Event details to come!] Dismantling and removal of bridge span over the tracks.
May – July – Removal of towers. Demolition and reconstruction of footings. Removal and replacement of structurally deficient members.
July – Encapsulation and removal of paint
Late Summer/Early Fall – Elevator construction
Early Fall – Anticipated reconstruction of bridge span over the tracks
Fall – Winter – Finalize stairs and elevator construction.
Early 2026 – Anticipated completion
