Winter weather will soon blanket Southwest Missouri. Take steps now to get your car or truck weather ready.

Here are 10 tips to help you through the winter months with your vehicle.

  1. Make sure your tires have as much tread as possible or replace them.
  2. Is your car/truck battery charged? Have your battery tested.
  3. Clean off your battery terminals for better charging or recharging.
  4. Lubricate your window tracks. Water could get into your window tracks causing drag and damage.
  5. Lube your hinges and latches. Hoods, trunks, and doors.
  6. Check your coolant add if necessary.
  7. Check your windshield washer. Top off if necessary.
  8. Check and replace wiper blades if needed.
  9. Replace cabin car/truck filters.
  10. Assemble a winter weather kit.  Jumper cables, blanket, extra gloves, coat, small shovel, protein bars, phone chargers, fix-a-flat, water, first aid kit, candle and candle holder, kitty litter (to help with traction), and small tool bag. (screw driver, hammer, nails, etc)
