JCPenney will be closing several stores nationwide this year.

Several factors attributes to the closing of several JCPenny retail stores.  Authorities say expiring lease agreements, market conditions and other business considerations.

As of today the JCPenny store in the Battlefield Mall, is still open and is not on the list for closing. 

JCPenny is merging with the SPARC group to form a larger retail organization called Catalyst Brands.
