The Center for Disease Control  has confirmed a listeria outbreak linked to deli meats in our area.

Two people  from Missouri, out of the nearly 30 people nationwide, have become sick due to a food poisoning outbreak.

Most of those people who have become ill, recall eating sliced meat from the grocery store delis. The deli meats that were mentioned include turkey, liverwurst and ham.

Symptoms of listeria include:   fevers , aches, and confusion. Symptoms can become more severe for people 65 and older.

What do you need to do to keep you and your family from getting sick?  Here is what the CDC  suggests:

For those that may be at higher risk for listeriosis avoid eating meats sliced at the deli, or heat them to an internal temperature of 165 Fahrenheit (74 Celsius) or until it’s steaming hot before eating.

Wash you hands before handling any food.

Keep your food refrigerated.
