The U.S. Postal Service believes, bigger is better!
The USPS is asking that if you currently have a standalone or curbside mailbox to switch to a larger, JUMBO one.
Mail Carriers want to be able to fit packages inside the larger boxes.
The USPS recommends the mailbox be of the CLASSIC shape, with a LOT of room.
The dimensions should be about 14 inches wide . . . 16 inches deep . . . and 12 inches high.
Why the bigger mailbox? The USPS claims it will save postal workers time and effort in not dropping them off at your doorstep, especially in rural areas. This in turn, could be time saving for you, since it may mean fewer trips to the Post Office to retrieve a package.
Where can you get a jumbo mailbox? Retailers such as Lowe’s, Home Depot, True Value, and Walmart stock them. Prices range from $65 to $100
