Childcare is a necessary evil. We pay a lot of money to have someone  watch our children while we work. It’s expensive, especially if you have a newborn.

Good news, the Missouri legislature is considering three different tax credits which is focusing on child care, and how to make it more affordable.

Right now House Bill 870 , would create three tax credit programs.  The first is donations toward child care providers. The second is for the providers themselves and the last is for employers paying for employees’ child care costs.

If passed, the bill will have an annual cap of $20 million for each program but can be expanded and will be used in certain regions.

This is not final yet, but discussions are underway.
