A reward program from City Utilities? Yes please!

CU will soon be rewarding customers for reducing their electric usage during severe or extreme weather.

Peak times during weather events from extreme cold or hot can increase your electric bill, by adjusting your thermostat to either lowering or increasing the temperature inside your home will make these times more affordable and lower your bill.

The new program is called CU PEAK REWARDS and its a way to save energy during demand times.

This is how it works.

CU will notify participating customers during a Peak Rewards Events. Usually its peak demand times. When more costumers are using electricity during severe hot or cold days.

CU will take control of your smart thermostat, which will be turned up or down depending on the severe weather issues. Temperature changes will not be more than three degrees and will last no longer than four hours.

Participants will be awarded a $50 incentive for enrolling their smart thermostats in the program and $25 annually for staying in the program.

If you agree to participate, you will be notified of upcoming events beforehand and can opt out of any event whenever they want by simply adjusting their thermostat to their desired temperature
