Say it isn’t so!  Red’s Giant Hamburg is up for auction on May 15, 2025.

Red’s Giant Hamburg on Route 66, opened up in 1947 and was believed to have been the world’s first “drive-thru” restaurant.

The original Red’s Hamburg shuttered its doors in 1984 and Red passed away in 1997.

Back In 2013, a fundraising effort was established to recreate the Red’s Giant Hamburg sign. That sign was installed in 2015.

New owners brought  Red’s Giant Hamburger back to life at a new location in Springfield in 2019.

The Commercial Real Estate Auction sign indicates that the restaurant will stay open until May 14,2025.
