If you have a temporary tag be on the lookout for the police and lots of fines.  Springfield Police as well as the Greene County Sheriff and area law enforcement officers s are really cracking down on those temp tags, but that’s not all!

Recently Senate Bill 28  was passed in Missouri. The Bill now calls for changes in temporary license plates, or temp tags. The tags are going away.

Once the new bill is enacted, if you should purchase a car from a dealer, you will no longer have 30 days before paying sales tax.

You will  be required to pay for the car and the sales tax at the same time; no different than buying an item at the store.

However, the bill doesn’t apply to private dealers, such as buying a car on Marketplace or Craigslist.

You will then be given a paper copy of the actual license plate as soon as the sales tax is paid.
