Starting this week, Missouri will be lowering the requirements for substitute teachers. Why the change? There is a huge shortage for those teaching in the educational sector which has prompted the lowering of requirements to become a substitute teacher.
The new changes will be implemented on Thursday Sept. 14, 2022 thru March of 2023. If you are interested in becoming a substitute, you must have a high school diploma, GED or completed a high school equivalency test, plus, complete a minimum of 20 hours of substitute teacher training and have at least 36 college credit hours.
