A runner was recently bit by a copperhead on the Finley River Greenway Trail.

The runner was listening to her phone when she was bit and not paying attention to the roadway.

Authorities say copperhead bites are painful and you will need medical attention if you have been bitten. Try to stay calm and take a picture of the snake that bit you.

Copperheads are easy to spot thanks to their distinctive hourglass-shaped bands that look a lot like Hershey’s Kisses, along with their grayish-brown to pinkish-tan coloring .
