What is Memorial Day?

Memorial Day, is observed on the last Monday of May.

This day honors members of the military who were killed in service, and includes both deployments overseas or in training and service in the US. across the country.

Memorial Day is a time for reflection to honor those who have passed. Many family members spend the day visiting cemetery’s and or attending Memorial Day events.

Springfield’s Memorial Day Service at the Springfield National Cemetery will begin with music at 10 am followed by the ceremony at 11 am. It is free and open to the public.

This is a rain or shine event.
