Here is a list of items you must have to be issued a Real ID:

  • Full legal name   Drivers license
  • Birthday (Birth certificate)
  • Social security number 
  • Two forms of proof of their address at their “principal residence” (CU Bill, Voter registration)
  • Lawful status

If you’re a married woman preparing to obtain a Real ID, here’s what you need to bring:

  1. Proof of Identity: A valid, unexpired U.S. passport or birth certificate.
  2. Marriage Certificate: To verify name changes, if applicable.
  3. Social Security Number: A document showing your SSN, like a Social Security card or tax document.
  4. Proof of Residency: Two documents with your current address, such as utility bills or bank statements.
  5. Application Form: Complete the Real ID application form, available online or at the DMV.
  6. Payment: A form of payment for the application fee, typically a check or credit card.
  7. Additional ID: If your name has changed multiple times, bring documents for each name change.
  8. Photograph: A recent passport-style photo, if not taken at the DMV.
