It’s that time of year again, temperatures are dropping, snow is moving in, and being outside in this kind of cold can be dangerous fast. If you or someone you know needs a warm, safe place to go, cold weather shelters and warming centers are available across the Ozarks. These resources exist for moments exactly like this.

Using a shelter or warming center isn’t something to feel embarrassed about. These spaces are here to help people stay safe during extreme weather, whether that’s for a few hours, overnight, or just long enough to get out of the cold. Sharing this information can save a life, especially as another storm moves in.

Because hours and availability can change based on weather and staffing, it’s strongly recommended that you call ahead when a phone number is listed to confirm a location is open. Please note that some organizations do not offer overnight shelter, and several locations are activated only during severe winter weather.

Please consider saving this list and sharing it with anyone who may need it.
