On vacation for the next election? Good news, you can cast your vote early. Absentee voting is now underway for the special June 18 elections in Greene County.
Two items will be up for voter approval. Elections are the Willard Mayoral election and the Fair Grove Ward 2 Alderman election.
Greene County has 75 assigned polling locations throughout the county for Election Day.
When should you vote absentee?
- Absence from their jurisdiction on Election Day
- Illness or physical disability causing them to be incapacitated or confined on Election Day
- Being a primary caretaker for someone who is incapacitated or confined on Election Day at the same address
- Religious beliefs
- Incarceration, as long as all qualifications for voting are retained
- Keeping their address private through the address confidentiality program due to safety concerns.
In-person absentee voting will take place at the Greene County Archives in Springfield at 1126 N. Boonville Ave. Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Voters will need to present one of the following for photo identification if voting as an in-person absentee:
- A non-expired Missouri driver or non-driver license;
- A non-expired military ID, including a veteran’s ID card;
- A non-expired United States passport;
- A photo ID issued by the United States or the state of Missouri that is either not expired or expired after the date of the most recent general election.
- A photo ID issued by the United States or the State of Missouri which is without an expiration date.
Residents can also vote by mail by filling out a form at vote.greenecountymo.gov or submit a handwritten request for an absentee ballot. Mail requests have to be signed by voters and received by the County Clerk’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5th. Mail-in ballots need to be voted, notarized, returned by mail and received in the County Clerk’s Office by no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.
