Thank You Kansas Speedway and Nascar

When we arrived at Kansas Speedway Sunday morning, it was raining, and the parking lot was mud. I was starting to wonder what we got into, to be honest.

Once we got into the media center, we dried off and were able to talk with the fantastic staff at the speedway. While we were sitting, the sun popped out, and we knew it would be a good day.

(Got to talk with legendary writer and Fox Sports analyst Bob Pockrass.)

We left the media center and followed some of the Kansas City Chiefs' players into the garage to meet some drivers before the race.

Being a lifelong NASCAR, I had never been in the garage area for a race, so I was beyond excited.

(Talking with Tyler Reddick, driver of the RCR #8 Chevy.)

(Alex Bowman, driver of the Hendrick Motorsports #88 Ally Chevy)

A fantastic moment in the garage area was when I turned around, and Coach Andy Reid was standing there. Coach Reid was incredibly friendly to chat with and is excited about the upcoming season.

After leaving the garage area, we headed to pit road to hang out before the driver intros. I got some selfies (I know, I know) with some of the drivers!

Michael Waltrip

Race winner, Kurt Busch

Chase Elliott

Ross Chastain

Daniel Suàrez

Kyle Larson

Ryan Blaney

After all the excitement on the pit road, we headed to our seats for the race, and WOW, what a race it was.

The race at Kansas Speedway had it all. Lots of passing, drama, and excitement. It was one of the better races so far this season.

Kurt Busch was in a league of his own all day. It looked like either Kyle Larson or Kyle Busch may pull out the victory, but Kurt was able to come from third place to pass both of them and claim the checkered flag.

If you're a NASCAR fan or are new to the sport, I will highly encourage you to attend the Fall race this year. I will be there and looking forward to being back at the wonderful Kansas Speedway.

Sampson's Journey

About a month ago, I woke up to Sampson making weird, faint noises. I didn't think much of it. I assumed he was dreaming, but when I tried to wake him up, he wouldn't. I was confused and scared when I had to shake Sam to get him to come to but wasn't having any luck.

I thought he was gone.

Sampson finally did come to, disoriented and confused. That same day I reached out to my vet in town, where they did some blood work. The test results found traces of "Cushing's Disease," so they wanted us to come back for more tests. After the more advanced blood work, it sounded like Sampson did have "Cushing's". The vet recommended that I connect with MU to see if they could provide a direction for the next steps.

This week, we made the journey to Columbia to visit doctors with the Veterinary Health Center at the University of Missouri.

The doctors there were incredibly friendly and kept in constant communication with what they were doing and the pricing.

The doctors at MU weren't convinced that Sampson had "Cushing's", so he was fitted with this fancy heart monitor and backpack. Sam had to wear it for 24 hours, and so since that time has passed, we have shipped it back, and we await more details.

It's been a confusing month, but I know Sampson is in good hands and seeing the best care. Thank you for the prayers, comments, and more. I know he sure appreciates it, as do I.
