The Kids Know!

Parents, the secret is out. Well, actually it was never really a secret. Most kids already know that their parents are hiding presents in the closet.

The next most-popular hiding spot is a spare room, followed by a coat closet, under a bed. A few other spots are the trunk of the car, a spare drawer or cabinet, the basement, the garage, and the attic. Half of people say they've had gifts they hid get found, while another half claim they've been successful at hiding gifts. Perhaps, they just haven't found out that their hiding spot has been breached.

RECALL ALERT!

Can You Say "Merry Christmas" Yet?

The debate as to when to start listening to Christmas music is as ongoing as the argument for when to decorate for the season. However, when did it become a thing to fuss over when to say, "Merry Christmas"? A recent poll reported that 30% said not until mid-December, another 28% said only during the week of Christmas, then 7% said not until Christmas Day. However, 28% said it IS acceptable now. This includes the 21% who said it's okay starting on December 1st. There were 5% who said sometime in November was alright and 2% who think people should be allowed to say Merry Christmas 365 days a year...wait, what?

Missouri's Favorite Christmas Movie

When you think of Christmas movie favorites, you might think about "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" or "It's A Wonderful Life." In fact there's a pretty long list of top box office hits that probably come to mind before, "The Christmas Chronicles" but that's the movie that Preply reported to trend most popular for the state of Missouri. Maybe you agree but if you want to take a look at how the other states reported, take a look at the map.

How Much are Your Christmas Lights Costing You?

The decorations, the lights, the BILL?! Christmas lights are a fun way to celebrate the season but it's not free. When it comes to keeping your electric bill low, the type of bulbs you buy can save you from burning away your money.

Christmas light shopping can be overwhelming. LED or incandescent? Mini, C9, C7, or something else? If you can’t decide, determining how much it will cost to run each strand may guide your decision.

While LED light strands tend to cost more at the store, most range from about $30 to $76 compared to the incandescent ranging between $9 and $10. Therefore, incandescent will put a greater strain on your electric bill over time.

You Know You're Old When...

With age comes wisdom and sometimes a commonality when it comes to generational behaviors. Here are a few things Boomers do that young people hate according to a BuzzFeed article.

1.  Claiming "the customer is always right."  Employees should be allowed to stand up for themselves if someone's being unreasonable.

2.  The "workhorse" mentality at most jobs.  Going above and beyond is great, but shouldn't be expected all the time.  Especially at low-paying jobs.

3.  Acting like it's fine to be bad at technology.  Just because you're older doesn't mean you can't learn the basics.  One person said their dad refuses to use computers . . . but still makes them buy things on Amazon and Google stuff for him.

4.  Popping in for a visit.  Young people always call first . . . or more likely, text.

5.  Calling instead of texting, unless it's an emergency.  Young people hate random phone calls, because it feels like they HAVE to answer.  So it's like you're forcing them to talk.  But they don't have to respond to texts right away.

6.  Making people feel bad for not owning a house yet.  It's way harder than it used to be, and a lot of parents and grandparents don't seem to get that.

7.  All the "participation trophy" jokes.  Sure, young people got them.  But their parents and grandparents handed them out.  So who's REALLY to blame?
