The warmer weather and longer daylight hours are bringing out the bikes! Two-wheelers, motorcycles, and scooters are hitting the road.
Motorists need to be very watchful for the riders not only in neighborhoods but on major thoroughfares and busy streets.
The simple rule of looking twice before pulling out into traffic, is a good recall for bike riders and motorists.
The City of Springfield does have requirements and suggestions for cyclists:
Use a headlamp after dark plus a red reflector on the rear of the bike.
Wear bright shirts when possible in daylight, and keep the bike’s headlamp on even in the daylight.
Helmets are not mandatory but highly suggested for safety.
Know the laws.
