This week is National Fire Prevention Week  October 8-14!

The theme for this week from the National Fire Protection Association is “Cooking safety starts with YOU! Pay attention to fire prevention.”

When cooking make sure you have a a thick potholder, one that is not charred or frayed. A good potholder will protect you when you grab a hot skillet handle or grab things out of the oven.

When cooking make sure all the pot handles are placed to the side, so little ones can’t grab the pot or pan and dump it on themselves.

If you do have young children  in your home, cook on the back burners when possible.
