"Winter weather has taken a serious toll on our blood supply, with more than 600 donations unable to be collected due to center closures and drive cancellations," said Michelle Teter, CBCO Media Relations Representative. "Now that the storms have passed, we need our community to rally and help restock hospital shelves. O-negative, A-negative, and O-positive blood types are in especially high demand. If the roads are safe for you to travel, we urge all Winter Weather Warriors to roll up a sleeve and donate. Every donation makes a lifesaving difference for patients in need."

Stay Clear of Snow Plows!

Snow plow drivers in the city, county and MoDot have been working nonstop to clear southwest, Missouri's roads, highways, and routes.

Now its the sun's turn.

Warmer temps will help the salt on the roadway to work. If temps get below 15-20 degrees, the salt becomes less ineffective.

Currently you will find most area highways in good shape, however side streets, and some rural routes will still have layers of hard packed snow and ice, making slippery conditions for drivers and pedestrians.

Be patient, slow down and expect  slick patches until everything is cleared.

Boil Order For Aurora!

The entire town of Aurora, Mo. is under a voluntary boil advisory issued by Liberty Utilities after crews fixed a broken pipe.  The break was at a

commercial business which led parts of the town to lose water pressure.  The leak has been fixed and pressure is back to normal. However,

do to the pressure drop, the Utility company is required to tests for bacteria. The results should be revealed within two- to three business days.

Liberty Utilities are recommending that customers:

  • Boil water vigorously for three minutes before use for cooking or drinking.
  • Let the water cool sufficiently before drinking.
  • Disinfect food-contact surfaces (dishes) by immersing them for at least one minute in clean tap water containing one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon.
  • Dispose of ice cubes and remake with water that has been boiled.
  • Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled.

If you have questions or experience low water pressure, call Liberty’s customer care team at 1-800-206-2300.

JCPenney will be closing several stores nationwide this year.

Several factors attributes to the closing of several JCPenny retail stores.  Authorities say expiring lease agreements, market conditions and other business considerations.

As of today the JCPenny store in the Battlefield Mall, is still open and is not on the list for closing.

JCPenny is merging with the SPARC group to form a larger retail organization called Catalyst Brands.
