Several local robberies have occurred recently from shopping online then meeting up with the seller to buy/purchase those items.

If you are a buyer or seller of items on FB Marketplace, or other on-line shop sites that require you to meet to purchase your items. Do it safety. Springfield police suggest a “Safe Exchange Zone”  to prevent robberies.

A Safe Exchange Zone is a place such as the Springfield Police parking lot where you can do online business in a safe manner.

Other tips to stay safe while exchanging items and money.

1. Meet in a public, well-lit place.

2. Don’t carry a lot of cash.

3. Trust your instincts and pay attention to your surroundings.

4. Never meet at someone’s home or invite them to yours to purchase items.
