The Birthplace of Route 66 Festival  gets underway today, August 10 in downtown Springfield!  Don’t miss the Rockin’ the Route” kickoff concert and street party at Jefferson Avenue and McDaniel Street.

The 3 day festival will feature Car-truck shows/ Live music/ Poker run/Bike show/Parade, plus food trucks and Rt 66 Exhibits.

This year the festival will also celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs!

You will have a couple of opportunities to see the Super Bowl LVII Lombardi Trophy! The trophy will be housed from 4-6 this Friday at Springfield Expo Center, 635 E. St. Louis. The trophy will then be moved with the “Kingdom Cruiser” bus, where we will see appearances by Chiefs Cheerleaders, and the Rumble drumline!

Road closures starting 4 a.m. Thursday

• St. Louis Street from Campbell Avenue through Park Central Square to Kimbrough Avenue;
• Park Central Square and spokes;
• Patton Avenue between Olive Street and Park Central West;
• Robberson Avenue between Olive Street and McDaniel Street;
• Jefferson Avenue between Water Street and Walnut Street;
• McDaniel Street from west of the Discovery Center parking lot to east of the parking garage at McDaniel Street and Robberson Avenue.
